PROPERTY STANDARDS

Our Property Standards Officer enforces the property standards that have been set forth by the Board of Mayor and Aldermen. The City has adopted and follows the 2012 International Property Maintenance Code. In addition to this code, the City passed Ordinance 18-13 relating to overgrown grass, weeds and dirty lots. These standards regulate and govern the conditions and maintenance of all property, buildings and structures; by providing standards to ensure structures are safe, sanitary, and fit for occupation. It is the responsibility of the Property Standards Officer to inform property owners of a violation of a City Code. Please note, the 2012 International Property Maintenance Code is used as a supplement to City Ordinances. Ordinance 18-13 take precedence over the International Code.

Do your research before placing a secondary structure on your property. It is the homeowner's responsibility to check the subdivision regulations or covenants associated with the property.
